Flooring

Bethany Duncan's story

Montrose

"

I would not change my flooring one bit, I absolutely love it and know I made the right choice with it. It was something I really wanted and saved up for. The investment was truly worth it.

When Bethany Duncan, a Montrose resident, moved into her detached new build house 4 years ago with her dog Rolo, she already knew that she wanted to start restyling it straight away.

“It was styled with grey colours and tones when I bought it which was nice and modern but I really wanted to put my own stamp on it,” says Bethany. “I knew I wanted darker wood flooring but needed some advice on what would be the best choice.”

Having worked with Millers of Montrose previously, Bethany knew she would visit our team to explore restyling options: “The carpet in my old flat was from Millers and they had laid it for me so I knew the team well already and trusted them. My family also uses Millers for their own homes and I just love that they are local as it is so important to support local businesses,” notes Bethany.

From the start of the renovation process, the team aided Bethany with whatever she needed: “The Millers team were very helpful. I knew I wanted herringbone flooring when I first went in to discuss it, so Gary advised me on the different material options – vinyl vs real wood as well as giving me pricing advice. Nick helped with the planning of it all and the team were even able to fit the work in before Christmas which is what I really hoped for.”

“My family also uses Millers for their own homes and I just love that they are local as it is so important to support local businesses”

The team started the project upstairs, laying the carpet in the three bedrooms and hallway: “I really love the upstairs carpet, it is a cream alabaster colour that is made from a bleachable material which is so handy when you have a dog. Many wouldn’t think of getting a white or cream carpet as they are afraid of getting it dirty but this carpet is so practical. Stains come out really easily as you can give it a really good clean and it is still in keeping with the neutral tones I wanted in my home,” says Bethany.

The pièce de résistance that Bethany loves the most in her home is her herringbone flooring: “I would not change my flooring one bit, I absolutely love it and know I made the right choice with it. It was something I really wanted and saved up for. The investment was truly worth it.”

The Millers team put the herringbone flooring in the kitchen, living room, hallway, downstairs bathroom and both living room and hallway cupboards so it flows throughout the entire downstairs of Bethany’s home.

“It just works so well, especially with the light that comes in. It is the reason I picked this house in the first place as every room is flooded so well with natural light and it shows off the flooring against the neutral walls beautifully.”

With the help of the Millers team, Bethany has been able to transform her home into a calming and soothing sanctuary: “You want to feel relaxed when you come home after a busy day of work where you can switch off. I’m just so happy with how it has turned out and that I was able to create this calming home.”

Since restyling, Bethany has turned her passion for neutral-minimalist home interiors into a popular Instagram account which now has 96K followers and growing: “It started out as a hobby. I was just so in love with my living room and wanted to share it online – it blew up from there.

“Everyone on Instagram always asks where I got my herringbone flooring from and I’m so proud to say it is from Millers, especially since they are local to me. I would 100% recommend them to anyone. Their service was excellent and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”
