Alan Robb had reached a point where his bedroom no longer felt like a relaxing place to unwind. The dark purple tones, old furniture and awkward layout made the space feel heavy, cluttered and far from the calm atmosphere he wanted. Alan knew the room needed a refresh, but he wasn’t sure what direction to take until he visited the team at Millers Interiors.

As a long-standing local business with a reputation for quality, Millers Interiors was already familiar to Alan. Once he stepped into the showroom and started chatting through ideas with Managing Director Gary, the entire project quickly began to take shape.

Out with the Old

The original room had several issues Alan wanted to tackle. The colours made the space feel small and closed-in and none of the storage worked particularly well for how he used the room. The wardrobes he had didn’t maximise the height of the space and everything felt a bit mismatched. Alan knew he wanted the room to feel lighter and more modern. 

“I’ve always had a love for the sea and I wanted my bedroom to be light and bright, so I decided on a beach theme,” he says. 

Gary helped him explore different options and together they chose a fresh, soft green colour as a theme, and Alan knew it would instantly transform the mood of the room.

Designed Around Real Life

Storage was one of Alan’s biggest frustrations. Clothes, shoes and everyday items never had a proper home. With help from Millers, they created fully bespoke wardrobes that made the most of every inch of wall height. The fitted wardrobes were designed with internal drawers and thoughtful shoe storage, giving Alan organisation that actually made sense for the way he lives.

The room now includes two double fitted wardrobes, a single fitted wardrobe, vanity unit, divan bed with storage underneath and mattress, bedside cabinets and a new carpet, everything complementing each other perfectly. 

“I have so much more space and everything is easy to put away and hang up, which makes life so much easier,” Alan says.

The installation was carried out by Paul, Millers’s trusted local joiner. For Alan, this part of the process was simple and seamless. The communication was clear, the schedule was followed and the workmanship was consistently high throughout. He appreciated being able to ask questions directly and felt reassured knowing everything was handled by people who genuinely cared about the result. What could have been disruptive instead felt easy, organised and stress-free from beginning to end.

The full package also came in significantly cheaper than Alan had expected. 

“The price was excellent. I had gone to another supplier before speaking to Millers and I managed to get everything for £5,000 cheaper than the price of just a wardrobe elsewhere!”

A Small Change with a Big Impact

The transformation has made a huge difference to how Alan feels in his home. The room now feels brighter, calmer and more modern. The green walls paired with the new carpet make the room feel warmer and more open, giving it a hotel-like finish that he genuinely enjoys waking up in.

“I enjoy coming to my bedroom now, because it’s clean, neat and tidy. It’s such a relaxing place, which is exactly what I wanted,” he says.

Everything finally has a place, the room stays tidier without even trying, and the additional storage has taken away that constant sense of clutter. Even sorting washing and organising clothes feels simpler, proof of how much thoughtful design can change the feel of a space.

For Alan, the experience was “perfect from start to finish.” He’s had plenty of compliments on the room from family and friends and said the transformation has exceeded what he imagined when he first stepped through the door at Miller’s Interiors.

Alan’s next plan is to work on his grandchildren’s bedroom for when they stay over, and he will definitely use Millers Interiors for that project too.
